A transaction in which the Buyer is currently chartering the vessel and purchases the vessel to get out of their charter commitment. Commonly an above market price is paid to mitigate the charter contract being cancelled early.
A vessel that is not in active service and may be awaiting better markets, fitting out, or work needed for classification.
