Cargo miles are a measure of demand in the commercial shipping market. They are the product of the total distance travelled by a vessel while underway, its cargo capacity (measured in MT, TEU, CEU or CBM), and a utilisation factor.
A vessel that is not in active service and may be awaiting better markets, fitting out, or work needed for classification.
